Dear Lake Charles UFCW Kroger Members,

We know how long you and your fellow UFCW members have waited for a good contract with Kroger that honors your hard work and sacrifices. As we have said from the very beginning, you have earned and deserve a good contract. No matter the challenges you and your bargaining committee have faced, your union has remained committed to one goal – doing what is best for all our UFCW members and their families.

After only two negotiation sessions with Kroger over the Lake Charles meat and clerk contracts, the company has already proposed an offer to settle.

To be very honest with you, we have deep concerns that this proposal does not reflect your hard work, worth, or the real value you bring to the Kroger Company. We believe, as you do, that you deserve better.

Kroger’s proposal would erode hours and earnings, eliminate your health insurance fund forcing you into a company-administered plan, and freeze wage levels making it easier for them to pay you less.

To be very clear, you deserve better than what Kroger is proposing, and your union is committed to honoring your hard work and all the sacrifices and risks you have taken for so long. No matter how long you have been a member, you have earned and deserve a better wage that supports you and your loved ones, and the right to affordable and quality health care that you have input on.

We will be meeting again to negotiate this contract on July 27 and remain committed to negotiating a good contract that honors your hard work and sacrifices.

As always, we will let you know our progress after the conclusion of our next meeting with Kroger.

To keep up to date on any and all developments, please sign up for important text updates by texting ‘KrogerHOU’ to 83071. And if you have any questions, reach out to us at (281) 448-5555.

Thank you again for everything you do for your family and ours.

Sincerely,

Brandon Hopkins

UFCW Local 455 President
