Take Hold of Your Future
Every year UFCW members and their families are eligible to apply for a variety of scholarships: UFCW International Charity Foundation, Union Plus and Texas ALF-CIO Scholarships are all available to UFCW 455 members each year.
Every year the UFCW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM offers scholarships to UFCW members or their immediate family members who want to further their education and demonstrate a commitment to their communities and to UFCW values.
Each year, the application deadline is in late June. More information for the 2021 Scholarship will be posted soon.
Current and retired members, their spouses and dependent children are eligible to apply. Member’s must have at least one year of continuous union membership by May 31 of the scholarship year to apply.
Applications are available starting in mid-June, and a complete application must be received on or before 12:00 p.m. (Noon) EST on January 31st of the scholarship year.
Amounts range from $500 to $4,000 and are one-time cash rewards. Students may re-apply each year.
Want to earn your GED?
Successfully prepare yourself! Take GED classes for free through Essential GED. The program offers a customized learning plan, so you’ll be able to pass the GED test, regardless of when you last went to school. The program allows you to study at your own pace with self-guided classes and can be completed from your phone or tablet.
If you are interested in using this benefit, please complete and submit the form linked below. It may take a few days to verify your UFCW membership. However, once confirmed, you’ll receive an email that explains how to login and begin taking free online GED classes.

Learn a New Language with Free Online Classes!
Whether it’s for travel, work or fun, UFCW’s free foreign language program makes learning a new language easy!
UFCW members can use this benefit to learn a foreign language for free online and at their own pace. All lessons are self-guided. This member benefit can be used to learn Spanish, French, German, Italian, English, Mandarin and more!
UFCW Free Foreign Language Program Quarters:
Seats will be available to UFCW members on a first come, first serve basis. Members can apply for as many quarters during the enrollment periods.
