Congratulations To Our Lake Charles/ Sulphur/Alexandria Members On Their Successful Ratification Of Their Union Contract!!

UFCW Local 455 and the Kroger Company, reached a 3-year agreement that secures health insurance benefits and increases with retroactivity for all bargaining unit employees. Here are some of the benefit improvements included in the new contract:

  • Effective January 1st, 2025, employees will see a decrease in weekly premium contributions for Plan One and Plan Two by 40%.
  • Effective January 1st, 2025, the Short term disability benefit maximum will increase by $100 and the part time disability benefit maximum will increase by $50.
  • Eligible employees hired on or before December 31st, 2024, will be eligible for Plan One with averaged weekly hour requirements, (24hrs) for 2025, (25hrs) for 2026, (27hrs) for 2027 for employee only coverage.
  • Eligible employees hired on or after January 1st, 2025, will be eligible for Plan Two with averaged weekly hour requirements, (24hrs) for 2025, (25hrs) for 2026, (27hrs) for 2027, for employee only coverage.
  • Workers will receive annual increases for the life of the contract.
  • Top Rate Workers will receive $1.00/hr increase with retroactivity to the expiration of the contract and $0.50 increase in year 2 & year 3 of the CBA.
  • Workers at pay step 2 & 3 and below will not lose pay due to hours requirements anymore.
  • Workers at pay step 2 will go to pay step 3 and workers in pay step 3 will go to pay step 4.
  • A ratification bonus will be paid out to Department Heads, Assistant Department Heads, Leads, Top Rate Full-Time Clerks, Top Rate Part-Time Clerks and Courtesy Clerks with 5 or more years of service.

 

The expiration of this agreement is on July 31, 2027.
