All Pilgrim’s Pride Nacogdoches workers,

Your Local Union Bargaining Committee and Local Union leadership met with the Pilgrim’s Pride leadership in Nacogdoches, Tx. on Monday, June 22nd. In that meeting, the Company leadership presented a final offer to the Local Union Bargaining Committee.

Your Local Union bargaining committee and leadership reviewed the offer but made the Company aware that the offer falls short of rewarding workers in key areas, but we would work on a counter proposal. The Company leadership left the meeting room, and left the venue, without notifying the Local Union Bargaining Committee and leadership that they would be leaving for the day. The Local Union Bargaining Committee found out the Company had left when they reached out to let the Company know that the Union was ready to present a counter proposal. The Company has spent the last 11 months proposing offers that don’t fully reward you and your families for the hard work you do every day. The Local Union Bargaining Committee did present a counter to the Company’s offer, via email, and we are awaiting a response. Union negotiators are calling the Company each day until we hear back.

In the meantime, it is important, now more than ever, to vote to give your Local Union Bargaining Committee strike authorization, by clicking this link, or by reaching out to the Union Representatives Oscar Martinez, Rydell Cummings, or Josias Alvarado, if you have not done so already.

If you have any questions about bargaining or the company’s offer, or you want to get more involved with your Union, contact Oscar Martinez as your Union Representative.

The Company’s Offer falls short in the following key areas:

  • Union Bargaining Committee- does not have the support or recommendation of your Union Bargaining Committee.
  • Wages- first year offer of $0.80, but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year wage offers are less than $0.50 per year
  • 4-year deal- longer contract, during a time of economic uncertainty, coupled with low wage offers in the out years of the contract.
  • Attendance-implemented a change in April of 2025 that they did not negotiate with the Local Union and are not offering a guaranteed fix.
  • Vacation- the Company proposed an offer that would reward all bargaining unit employees with more vacation time, similar to what they offer the non-Union employees, but the Company, in bad faith, later moved backwards on their proposal and offered a lesser improvement only for a small number of employees. See the Company’s proposal on the right not included in the Company’s Final Offer.
