Dear UFCW Local 455 Kroger Members,

Kroger continues to make business decisions without fully considering how they impact you and your families.

Kroger has closed eight stores within your Local Union jurisdiction (Kroger stores 241, 275, 364, 365, 412, 600, 607, and 609) and has made changes to the workplace, including moving to digital shelf tags; removing floor scrubbing, juicing, and cut fruit positions; closing meat cases; closing Starbucks departments and opening non-union Dunkin’ Donuts; introducing more pre-packed meat into your meat departments; and redirecting floral hours to National Garden Service.

All of this has occurred while management continues to perform our bargaining unit work instead of scheduling our brothers and sisters who need those hours to qualify for Health and Welfare Benefits and avoid wage cuts by Kroger.

The Local will be launching an organizing campaign within any store that has a Dunkin Donuts so that these workers can enjoy the same benefits and representation that you and your fellow workers currently have. If you would like to help the Local’s efforts to unionize these workers, please contact your Union Representative today.

Tell Kroger to stop eliminating our jobs, benefits, and hours! Kroger needs to fully staff our stores and take care of the people who continue to make Kroger successful today! Kroger insists that our hours are tied to our healthcare and wages. Ask your store manager today: “Why are you cutting our work and bringing in third-party workers to take our hours and jobs and insisting on tying our benefits to the hours you are cutting or giving away?”

What Our Members Are Experiencing

REDUCED HOURS

“I worked at Store 275 before the store closed in November 2025. At 275, I was getting around 30–37 hours. After only a few weeks at Store 307, I have only been getting 20 hours. This will affect my wage progression and insurance eligibility, [as well as] decreasing [the] vacation hours I am eligible for.”

Marisol M. • Store K307

LOST PAY

“I lost my pay due to the hour requirement Kroger requires; whenever you get sick and can’t come to work, that counts against you.”

George E. • Store K950

UNDERSTAFFING

“Kroger [is] forcing workers to do the jobs of two to three people…. If a person calls in sick, we are not allowed to call any employees in to replace the shift of the person that called in.”

Michael P. • Store K190
