Dear UFCW Local 455 Kroger Members,
You may have seen your Union, and International Union Representatives recently servicing your stores and also looking for, and confirming, picket captain volunteers. We need you to join in, to help us with this fight! Each day that the company refuses to sign the deal that they agreed to–which includes wage and benefit improvements for you and your coworkers–they are robbing you, our members, of your dignity & respect!!
Kroger is dragging this out for far too long, and is continuing to make huge profits with your hard work, while interfering with your contract & representation rights! Instead of trying to reward your loyalty and dedication, they are more interested in playing games with your lives and your paychecks. It is shameful that Kroger refuses to sign the deal that both parties have reached. We are ready to ratify an agreement that is best for you and your families; and, to continue doing the job we are here to do; that is, to represent our hard working members!!
Given the situation that Kroger has put us all in, and the unprecedented bad faith bargaining by the Kroger Company, it leaves us with no other choice, but to take further action to protect your jobs, your contract and your Union! Every Kroger employee, at every store, needs to take a stand and prepare to defend your Union Contract to prevent these wrongs from going on any longer!
Gather with your co-workers to participate; so together, we can ensure that every union member is informed; and, that every store is adequately covered for an unfair labor practice strike, if and when it comes to that! Your fellow Kroger workers in Oregon and Colorado recently went on strike, to get the company to listen to them. That seems to be the only message Kroger can hear all the way up in Cincinnati, where they are counting the money you made for them!
We will need all of our rank and file union members to sign up for the SAC (Street Action Committee) – which will be the leaders of our rank and file union membership. Become a picket captain, and attend our upcoming picket captain training to get more involved!!!
