Dear Local 455 Members,

I write to you all today, as it’s important that word gets around to all our brothers and sisters that are working hard in Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana, about the ongoing reductions in hours and store closures that have been announced. Many members may have experienced a reduction in hours, as a result of Kroger pulling back on various departments, such as Starbucks, Murray’s Cheese, Meat Departments, Floor scrubbers, Pharmacy, Juicing and various other programs they’re discontinuing.

The ongoing reduction in hours, department closures, and eliminated positions have begun to affect many of our brothers and sisters and it could soon affect you too. If you have been impacted by any of these reductions or changes, we ask that you reach out to the Local Union as part of our investigation.

If you have experienced a loss in hours due to a store closure or department closure, or rollback that could impact your wage rates, healthcare eligibility, or just simply earning less due to receiving less hours; or, if you feel you have been negatively impacted in any way by these company decisions, please contact us at your Local Union office or contact your Union representative as soon as possible.

We expect store and department closures to continue, so it’s important to reach out to the Local, so we may investigate, as soon as it happens. Keep in mind, that if you’re impacted by a store closure, the Local has bargaining rights, on your behalf, and we want to help. We are continuing to investigate the above-mentioned concerns, proceeding with grievances challenging the company’s decisions, and, bargaining over the effects of these actions.

Sincerely and fraternally,

W. Brandon Hopkins
President
