Dear UFCW Local 455 Kroger Members,

One of the many advantages of having a Union contract is to guarantee the things you care about the most. The following information is meant to help you understand and navigate the basics of your scheduling rights under the current Union contract.

Current Scheduling Benefits

Guaranteed Hours:

Full-time employees are guaranteed a 40-hour work week to be worked no more than 5 days in a week. Part-time employees are guaranteed a minimum of a 20-hour workweek and a minimum of 4 hours per day. Any schedule with split shifts is prohibited.

Holiday Rates:

Employees are guaranteed a premium holiday rate of 1 ¼ for all work done on an approved, recognized union holiday. Recognized union holidays include New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.

Overtime Rates:

A guaranteed overtime rate of 1 ½ for all hours worked outside the 40-hour workweek or 8-hour shift.

Schedules:

All scheduling will be posted by seniority for all departments on Fridays at noon; any additional changes to the schedule need to be notified to management before Saturday noon.

Breaks/Rest Periods

Employees are guaranteed uninterrupted paid lunch breaks/rest periods for hours worked in a day; breaks are to be scheduled near the middle of their shift.

Table showing the amount of hours worked and the uninterrupted paid lunch periods given for those worked hours. Six hours or less = (1) 15 minute break, 6 hours or more = (2) 15 minute breaks, 10 hours or more = (3) 15 minute breaks.
