All Pilgrim’s Pride Nacogdoches Members,
Your Local Union Leadership met with Company representatives on 1/14 & 1/15 in Houston, to continue our work of securing agreements on the items that matter to you most. While many items were discussed, including your wages, healthcare, and other benefit improvements that we know are important to you and your families, we do not believe we have accomplished enough for you yet. The need to stand up for a strong Union contract is important now more than ever!
While we have agreed to further meetings with Company representatives, on 1/27 &1/28, the fact is that Pilgrim Pride Nacogdoches workers have been working without a contract since 7/5/25, and you deserve a new Union contract that takes you forward, without further delay.
Here are some of the areas where we are apart:
- The Company has refused to agree to backpay on any wage increase negotiated back to expiration of your contract.
- The wages the Company is offering, in a three-year deal, are less than what they have given to other groups, and not enough.
- The Company owes Maintenance workers additional money, due to not allowing them to test into higher rates that are provided for in the last contract.
- The Company implemented a new Attendance policy, without bargaining with the Union, and that policy needs to be bargained over to make sure it works for you.
- The seniority premiums in the contract need to be revised, because being a senior employee matters.
- The Company has not agreed to a Union-proposed Company-sponsored healthcare premium break, so less money comes out of your paycheck for the Healthcare coverage that you receive.
We know how important your Union contract is to you, allowing you to be able to pay your bills, and support your families. We have that in mind while we are fighting for you. While your worker-led bargaining committee has received strike authorization from the membership, we want to get this done without a strike, but we will use that authorization if we have to. Our goal is to reach a strong agreement, that we know you can support, and that will reward your hard work. In the event we do not reach an agreement we can recommend to you, your Union will be prepared to take action, and expect your full support.
Don’t forget that you, and all of the other members that work at Pilgrim Pride Nacogdoches, are the Union, and you deserve a strong agreement that rewards your hard work and lifts you up!
