UFCW Local 455 members at a Houston Kroger store were honored to welcome Congressman Colin Allred for a workplace visit, where he spent time hearing directly from union grocery workers about the essential work they perform every day to support their communities. During the visit, Congressman Allred joined members in the bakery department, decorating cakes alongside workers and gaining firsthand insight into the skill, professionalism, and teamwork that keep Kroger stores operating smoothly.
Congressman Allred has been a steadfast advocate for working families, consistently supporting legislation that protects the right to organize, strengthens collective bargaining, and ensures fair wages and safe working conditions. His visit reinforced the vital role that strong unions play in securing dignity and respect on the job for frontline workers across Texas.
“Every worker deserves respect, fair pay, and a voice on the job,” Congressman Allred affirmed while speaking with members, reiterating his commitment to advancing pro-worker policies that expand union rights and workplace protections.
Local 455 members expressed appreciation for Congressman Allred’s willingness to listen and stand alongside labor as we continue our fight for fair treatment and equitable contracts. As one member shared, “It means a lot when our elected officials take the time to see what we do every day” and understand what we need to support our families.
UFCW Local 455 thanks Congressman Allred for his continued support and solidarity. Together, we will keep advocating for strong union standards and the fair treatment that all workers deserve.
