IMPORTANCE OF YOUR SC TRUST FUND

The Union & Company met this week on August 4th and August 5th to continue

discussions on your contract with the assistance of a Federal Mediator. On the second day of meetings, the company proposed a wage proposal, which will be bargained between the two committees. Your local union will also continue to address the issues that are important to you and your families such as having your South Central Trust Fund preserved the importance of hazard pay, and other benefit improvements. 

For more than 45 years your healthcare fund (South Central Trust Fund) has protected your voice and made sure you and your family has had a fair set of benefits, and a “say so” in your plan design and administration.

Your South Central Trust Fund has also provided you a voice on the future of your benefits and how they will affect your families. With the company’s proposed plan, you would not have a seat at the table going forward on any healthcare decisions. This is a change from the way things have been done for more than 4 decades.

We do not believe the proposed “K-Plan” is in your best interest. It could lead to things like annual rising costs and depletion of the reserves. Most importantly, it gives total control of your healthcare benefits to the company.

You are, and have been, there for the company and even during these dangerous and unprecedented times, you have helped them make record profits. Now is NOT the time to reinvent your healthcare and take away Your Voice. A company-controlled healthcare plan would mean handing over total control of all healthcare decisions for current and future employees.

As we still believe, one good job should be enough!
